Joseph G. Rosania

I graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in 1982 (top 20% of class). I am a shareholder of Connolly, Rosania & Lofstedt, P.C. (CR&L) and have been with the firm for over ten years.

I served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Jay L. Gueck, former United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Colorado, from 1982 to 1984. In that position, Judge Gueck revised the local rules of bankruptcy procedure and authored a groundbreaking opinion on setoffs, which received national attention. After the clerkship, I operated a successful solo law practice concentrating on bankruptcy and related litigation from 1989 through 2001.  I have been a member of the Panel of Private Trustees for the District of Colorado since 1985.

In June 2001, I joined CR&L as a shareholder and have continued to focus my practice on bankruptcy cases and bankruptcy-related litigation. I have served as a Chapter 7 trustee in thousands of cases, have expertise in complex bankruptcy cases, have served as a Chapter 11 trustee, an examiner in three cases, including a securities fraud case, I have been counsel to the official unsecured creditors’ committee in several cases, and have represented Chapter 11 debtors.

I have been a frequent speaker on Chapter 7 Trustee subjects, including at the American Bankruptcy Institute’s winter 2002 and 2008 programs, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado, Continuing Legal Education, business law classes at the University of Colorado and Colorado State University and the United States Trustee’s Office for the District of Colorado.
